The Fort Bend Medical Society (FBMS), a component of the Texas Medical Association (TMA), is the official medical society of Fort Bend County, Texas.  If you are not a member of your county medical society and you work/live in Fort Bend County, then I invite you to become a member of FBMS.   By joining together, we can become a stronger, larger, and better organized medical society that supports our member physicians, patients and community. We empower our member physicians for leadership service and activities as well as promote the highest standards of ethical medical practice, access to quality medical care, medical education, research, and community health.   Under the leadership of Dr. L.E. Richey in 2009, the Fort Bend Medical Society was revitalized and experienced phenomenal growth. Going forward, we will continue the momentum of 2009 but cannot do so without your support.   Here are just a few things we are working on now: Disparate Physician Reimbursement between Fort Bend and Harris Counties - Despite higher operating costs for many practices, Fort Bend County physicians are reimbursed approximately 10% less by CMS compared to physicians located approximately 5 miles away in Harris County. FBMS is actively trying to address this complex issue, soliciting the advice and support of Congressman Pete Olson and other government representatives. Offering more networking/social events for member physicians to connect with peers, practice management seminars, and CME Events(including ethics credit); and Regular communications and opportunities for feedback that help member physicians study and recommend action on daily issues, provide thoughts about society goals and suggest new services.   Join us today.
