Joe Freudenberger


Joseph Freudenberger is the chief executive officer of OakBend Medical Center in Richmond, Texas.  He has been with OakBend Medical Center for over 6 years.  Subsequent to achieving his MBA in Finance from the A. B. Freeman School of Business, Tulane University, he has spent over 25 years in healthcare, the first 10 as a consultant with Deloitte & Touche working with major healthcare systems around the country to improve their business operations and the last 16 in various leadership roles with independent community hospitals in southeast Texas, including chief financial officer, chief operating officer and now chief executive officer.

Over his career he has at one time or another overseen every department in a hospital with specific expertise in all aspects of hospital business and financial operations.  Also he has developed a track record of successfully implementing operational and organizational change.

Mr. Freudenberger is an active member of his community, currently serving on several boards of community organizations including the Greater Fort Bend Economic Development Council, Child Advocates, T.W. Davis YMCA, and OakBend Health System.  He is currently Chairman of the Central Fort Bend Chamber Alliance.  He recently received the Central Fort Bend Chamber Alliance’s most prestigious award as the Business Person of the Year.  He also served on the Board of Westbury Little League for ten years, is a member of the Healthcare Financial Managers Association (HFMA) for the last 24 years and while working in Lufkin, Mr. Freudenberger served on several Boards including the HealthCare Partners of East Texas and Physicians Association of East Texas.

Mr. Freudenberger grew up in New Orleans, Louisiana, and has been a resident of Houston since 1986.  He and his wife of 27 years, Laura, have three adult children.
